Dr. Cynthia Chapman specializes in assisting individuals in overcoming life’s difficult situations and emotions. She loves working collaboratively with her clients and assisting them with the skills and tools that allow them to accomplish their goals and feel good again. She especially loves seeing her clients develop the inner strength and confidence that makes life worth living.
Dr. Cynthia Chapman received her doctorate (2000) from Fuller Theological Seminary, Graduate School of Psychology in Pasadena, California. She also holds a masters degree in Christian Leadership with an emphasis in integration of psychological and theological principles. Her unique training allows her to comfortably address her client’s spiritual concerns.
Experience
In addition to completing a full time clinical internship accredited by the American Psychological Association, at Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital, Dr. Cynthia has specialized in working with adults and seniors in individual and group settings with an emphasis in cognitive behavioral therapy. Dr. Chapman has lead educational seminars on a variety of topics related to cognitive therapy on depression and anxiety. Further, she has worked with Dual Diagnosis programs in which individuals experience chronic mood disorders as well as substance abuse problems. The principles of cognitive therapy were utilized to reduce mood symptoms and prevent relapse. Her work with adults also includes depression, anxiety, relationship issues, religious issues, and anger problems.
Dr. Cynthia has also worked with children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems, focusing in on issues of anger management, depression, anxiety, impulse control, self-esteem, and substance abuse intervention. She has provided adolescents, group and individual psychotherapy, as well as educational instruction in cognitive theory. In addition, she has worked with parents and caregivers educating them in behavior modification techniques and parenting skills. Dr. Cynthia spent a year conducting and writing integrated reports of intellectual, personality, and neuropsychological testing with children and adolescents in outpatient and inpatient settings.
